Conquer one mountain at a time

I flight back to KK on 24 November, and I told myself this is the time.
Time for me to think about my job, my path, my tension.
This is the chance to relax, get away from everything
and get connected to God once more.
Beside attending my convocation,
I'm in my journey to discover the answer to my question.

On Sunday, we went to
Doulas Hope,
I was blessed to be in Doulas Hope, it arrived in the right time in Jeselton Point.
I'm unable to get into the ship when I went to KL 2 months ago,
since I'm following uncle Tony and we can't just make our own way to there.

I was sitting down waiting for my brother,
and I saw this picture.

It reminds me of myself, at the crossroad.
Not knowing where to go, what to do next.

God timing is always correct!!
Derek and Bea gave this picture on my convocation

"Conquer one mountain at a time"

A week before, I was having difficulties in work place.
I'm really stress and feel so tired.
I went to my superior, I cried and talk about it.
He comfort me and gave me some advice,
there's one sentence that he told me.
I keep on asking myself what he mean by that,
On my way back to KK I keep on ask myself:
What are the things that make me tension?
What are the things that I can do?
How to deal with it?
I was praying and ask God to direct my steps.

He answer it, through this picture.
Thank You God!

My convocation

Yeah! Finally I'm officially graduated!
After 2years in kindergarden, 6 years in primary school, 6 and half in secondary school, and another 3 years in university;
28 November 2011 is the day I'm officially kiss good bye to my studies life.
To be honest I'm not really exited for my convocation at first,
since I don't have much time to prepare for it,
I just have sufficient time to prepare the gifts to my beloved coursemates,
lectures and my beloved Life Fires.
Everything is too rush and I even late on my convocation day,
now it had comes to an end.

Back to Sabah
is something I have long waited, since I'm really tension with my current work.
Going back really feels like HOME.
I really love Sabah - the air; the lifestyle; the sea; the mountains.......
Most of all, the people that walk into my life and touches my life and changed it forever.

I mention earlier I'm not that exited, it is just a ceremony.
My highlight was when my coursemate Syafiq represent the students to speak on the stage.
He ask us to stand up and face our parents, then our lecture.
Saying "thank you", that really touches me.
For that moment, I feel it.
I feel that I have done my best as students, and I DID it.
My family and my lectures are my supporter and witness to this memorable day.
As he was speaking, his tears fall.
Its hard to believe that a guy allow his tears fall infront of thousand,
but this is true, the "Thank You" is from his heart.

Thanks to my family who had supporter me in my studies..

Thanks to my family in KK - the Life Fire;
I am who I am today because of them,
because of their care, their support and love.

I also received gifts from friends.
Believe it or not, I recieved more than my birthday!

Cards! I like it so sooo much!

Work

I've just been confirmed by the current company I'm working with.
It's really fast than I've expected, because I just worked for 1 month.
I've been told that my performance is better than they expected.
But the true is they want me to commit to the company,
therefore they want to confirm me to make sure
I commited to company, and performe better.
In another word, they want to push me.

I guess it's good also since I always doubt,
and wandering is it really suit me.
God has given me this opportunity and encouragement,
so now it's time to focus on the job,
to continue this path that God had prepare for me.

work and highlights

It's almost a month I've worked.
3 main things to highlight:
overload, humanity, communication.

1The work is overload, I have to continue my work in home.
It's taking a lot of my energy and time.

2Communication, it's something that all of us are trying to improve.
It's the best way to make sure the team are in the same direction.

3 There's no equalty nor respect (to imigrant)
it's really sad to see this happen.
There's an issue yesterday in the factory,
(well just in case you don't know where I work;
I'm working in a factory and my company produce dried clay
with diferent size by using different sieve.
every packing will be brought to laboratory for testing
to check the residue either high or not)

What happened was one of my imigrant QC detect
there's high residue of sand in the product.
Quicky he run and ask the operator to stop the machine
and ask technician (an indian malaysian) to check it.
It is true that the way he talk is rude,
and it make the technician angry and approached me.
I understand my QC's concern and the technician's anger.

What make me sad is what I heard my superior said to the technician
"These people (imigrant) have limited knowledge,
so if you have any problem or you need information
you meet the senior not this lower people (orang bawahan)
there are just imigrant"

It's really sad that human being seperate themself by using
grade and status. Moreover, they feel prod with themself
as they are in the higher heraiki system.

This also remind me of one of the programme I joined
last year in YPC, KK.
We reach out to the islamic imigrant by helping the children
and repairing their school.
The experience teaches me alot such as
what to be thankful, what to do for them/help them.

What happen if one day we are been put in the situation,
don't we want the right? don't we want care from people?
We are far from home, feel lonely.
Don't I deserved some respect and care also,
as I worked to get my income, I'm not doing any harm.

At the same time, I thank God for this opportunity.
Opportunity to see what is happening,
and what I can do for them.
I'm still searching what is my calling to be here.

"it's a pity"?

It has been 3 weeks since I start working.
Working is really different compare to study;
even though I work before, I know the difference,
but this is so much different!
There are many 'division' of people in work place,
trying to grab you join the group.
In work place you'll feel so much lonely compare to study life.

My current work place I found lack of respect,
either the employer or employee.
The respect I mean is the lack of respect to equally and the way of talking
to worker, migrant especially.
I know sometimes as a bos you need to be harsh to employee
but I do hope also when they talk to employee,
there a proper way of communication.
Understanding is also another quality that I feel here lack of.
I feel stress mainly because of this two quality
that people here don't aware,
for me this is my tension and I'm still
learning how to cope with it.

My first 2 weekend is quite relaxing,
I only have to know the lab test they usually do,
the daily routine, and adapt to the working environment.
The third week, I feel more stress.
Responsibility was given to me,
exportation from employer is higher.
I need to increase the production or else
(you know what happen next)
There is so much more to learn,
so much more to do.

I still remember there's a technician came to repair the machine yesterday.
He ask if I study mechanical engineer,
I told him that I'm a geologist.
After hearing me, he said "it's a pity"
and it did hit me for a while.
Ya, to be honest 'it is a pity".
I have that thought from the first day I started to work here,
but is it really "pity"? I don't think so now.

God had prepare this plan for me,
and He always give the best.
Even though I doubt with my gifts, my role,
I shouldn't doubt at Him.
He has plan for me, and it's not the time to reveal yet.
This is just another 'dot' in my life.
A "dot" that I need to have to get a better life.

Quote from Steve Jobs

I was watching a clip from You Tube,
it's actually a speech by Steve Jobs in stanford university.
I found it truely inspiring, and decided to share it:

You can't connect the dots looking forward;
you can only connect them looking backwards.
So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future.
You have to trust in something
— your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever.
This approach has never let me down,
and it has made all the difference in my life.

Your work is going to fill a large part of your life,
and the only way to be truly satisfied
is to do what you believe is great work.
And the only way to do great work is to love what you do.
If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle.
As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it.
And, like any great relationship,
it just gets better and better as the years roll on.
So keep looking until you find it. Don't settle.

Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life.
Don't be trapped by dogma —
which is living with the results of other people's thinking.
Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice.
And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.
They somehow already know what you truly want to become.
Everything else is secondary

It's okay

Sometimes I ask why is it so unfair?
Sometimes I ask am I so unlucky?

Sometimes I ask why I care for them so much,
but they never did the same.
Sometimes I wander why a I holding it so close to my heart,
but seem that no one cares about it.

Well, sometimes I just have to tell myself

"It's okay. Don't rely on what you think you know"
"Shouldn't be think about it too"

Life is unexpected; there's so much joy around you.
Look for joy instead of having these ideas

Jump Start and Miracles

When I take a look at my Jump start planning, I was shock.
I didn't really work hard to achieve my goals,
but almost 98% of what I write down actually happen.
I achieved most of my goals.
Now, What make me happy is not the achievement I've enjoy.
But the unexpected outcome, and rewards that I received.

I've learn 2 important lesson:
1 You need to have a view of what you want to achieve in life.

It's a motivation to move you, your supporter and reminder.

2I finally understand what is mean by miracles.
It's not the things you want or wishes you long await for had become true;
but the unexpected outcome, and blessing from God!
That is miracle, the works of God.

Mini Creeds by Fr Ron Rolheiser

I was reading the Herald few days ago,
saw this interesting article form Fr Ron Rolheiser.
Would like to share it here, as a reminder for myself.

We are all familiar with the Nicene and the Apostles' creeds, the two great faith-summaries that anchor our faith. Without them, eventually we would drift off the path and lose our way. Creeds anchor us.

But the great creeds are like huge rivers that need smaller tributaries to bring their waters into various places. Thus, we also need mini-creeds, short, pithy truth-statements that anchor us morally and spiritually. We all, no doubt, have our own favorite mini-creeds. Here are some of mine:

·
Love is better than anger. Hope is better than fear.
Optimism is better than despair.
So let us be loving, hopeful and optimistic.
Jack Layton, leader of the New Democratic Party of Canada, in a letter to

the people of Canada, just before dying of cancer.

· The great challenge is living your wounds through instead of thinking

them through.
It is better to cry than to worry,
better to feel your wounds deeply than
to understand them,

better to let them enter into your silence than to talk about them.
The choice you face constantly is whether you are taking your wounds to
your head or your heart.
Henri Nouwen, journaling while working through a clinical depression.

· When something hard happens to you,
you have two choices in how to deal with it.

You can get bitter, or better.
Donald Miller, challenging young people to a higher ethic.

· When I despair, I remember that all through history,

the way of truth and love has always won.
There have been murderers and tyrants,
and for a time they can seem invincible.
But in the end they always fall. Think of it, always.
Mohandas K. Gandhi, asserting his belief in the ultimate triumph of truth
and goodness.

· Nothing that is worth doing can be achieved in our lifetime;

therefore we must be saved by hope.
Nothing we do, however virtuous, can be accomplished alone;
therefore we must be saved by love.
No virtuous act is quite as virtuous from the standpoint of our friend or
foe as it is from our standpoint.
Therefore we must be saved by a final act of love, which is forgiveness.
Reinholt Niebuhr, on the complexities of sanctity.

· This is how we grow:

by being defeated decisively by constantly great things.
Rainer Marie Rilke suggesting that a defeat by the other world is better
than a victory in this one.

· Our faith begins at the very point where atheists suppose that it must

end.
Our faith begins with the bleakness and power of the night of the cross,
abandonment, temptation, and doubt about everything that exists.
Jurgen Moltmann on the dark night of faith and the cross.

· There comes a time in one's life where the question is no longer:

What can I still do to remain productive and to make a contribution in
this world?
Rather the question becomes: How can I live now so that when I die my
death will be an optimal blessing for my loved ones, for the church, and
for the world?
Henri Nouwen on the difference between giving our lives away and giving
our deaths away.

· Don't be afraid to suffer,

give the heaviness back to the weight of the earth;
mountains are heavy, seas are heavy.
Rainer Marie Rilke writing to a friend grieving the death of a loved one.

· Love must wait for wounds to heal.

It is this waiting that we must do for each other,
not with a sense of mercy, or in judgment,
but as if forgiveness were a rendezvous.
Novelist Anne Michaels on empathy.

· In this life there is no such thing as a clear-cut pure joy.

But this intimate experience in which every bit of life is touched by a bit
of death can point us beyond the limits of our existence.
Henri Nouwen on how we live now, "mourning and weeping in this valley
of tears".

· Wake up lovers; it is time to start the journey!

We've seen enough of this world; it is time to see another.
Rumi, suggesting that mostly we are asleep to the other world and to
the deeper things of this one.

· Don't surrender your loneliness so quickly. Let it cut more deep.

Let it ferment and season you as few human or even divine ingredients
can.
Hafiz, Fourteenth Century, Sufi Mystic poet.

· To reach satisfaction in all, desire satisfaction in nothing.

To come to possess all, desire the possession of nothing.
To arrive at being all, desire to be nothing.
To come to the knowledge of all, desire the knowledge of nothing.
To come to enjoy what you have not, you must go by a way in which you
enjoy not.
To come to the possession you have not, you must go by a way in which
you possess not.
To come to what you are not, you must go by a way in which you are
not.
John of the Cross on finding life by giving it away.

I Lift My Hands

Limit doesn't stop you to dream

God gave us freedom,
and like it or not we need to know our limit.
Limit doesn't mean you have less options;
it mean you need more focus.
Limit doesn't mean "only";
it leads you to possibilities.

Limit helps you to discover your potentials,
help you to think outside of the box.
If you accept and work well with limit;
then, You'll success!

Hopes is there for you, as long as you have faith in God.
and working well with limit.

There are things about tomorrow
that I don't seem to understand
But I know who holds tomorrow
And I know who holds my hands
And each step is getting brighter

it's time to let go

I have a Wanderful conversation today,
feel inspire and relief.
Sometimes we holds the feelings to tide,

untill you feel so tired and unable to continue to carry on.

What we can do is just let it go...
and surrender it to God.

I'm restless; I need faith and courage

Things has become more and more complicated regarding with my job.
I just feel so tired and lazy to deal with it....
I’m not a person like conflict and when I’m uncertain
I tend to run and run as far as I can to avoid discuss the topic.
I don’t want to talk about it and I don’t want to think about it.
It make me tension and peace is far to reach.

When God see this, He knew what to do,
God is a great God and responsible father;
He doesn’t allow His child to run away from problem
and He want us the children to learn
how to settle the problem not running away from it.

As a father He want us to be stronger like Him
not weak or become coward who just know how to hide.
I keep on ask God why He allow me to see things and wisdom to know it.
How come He don’t make a way for me?
Is it that hard?
I ask god to allow me, make a way for me.
Well I don’t get a green light,

Means I have to find solution for my problem and my concern;
Well I did manage to settle it.
One day after all settle, something happen and Oh NO!!!
I hate that! Trying to find solution, but problem keep on occur.
So I ask god: Are you making fun of my life?

Well when I calm myself I realize its God work’s
He is giving me second chance;
He gave me serenity to accept things I can’t change
and the courage to change things I can.
I’ve been doing a lot of thinking,
of course there is solution if I accept the offer.
As I go through this little book,
I saw the affirmation from my Debbie Ros – Purpose Driven

Yes, I always ask myself WHAT is the purpose?
("WHAT" is a word Bea and Derek teach me,
believe it or not;
it change my life and opens my heart
which allows me to see myself and deep inside my heart)
Having answer allow me to think and walk farther, so I ask myself:
Do I want to go for it? Does it help me?
What I want to achieve at the end? What is my expectation?

After asking myself,
I decided to reject the job offer.
To be honest I am sad and it is a hard decision to make,
I don’t know what to hope for.
But this is the will of God,
I know I need to put my trust on God

"Yes, I know what plans I have in mind for you,
Yahweh declares,
plans for peace, not for disaster,
to give you a future and a hope."
-Jeremiah 29:11-

At the end I feel restless;
What I need now is faith and courage.

good bye note to studies

I finished my internship last week.
Another word, I'm going to graduate!
Well it's been 3 years I'm in Sabah.

It is an life changing experience!

I've discover more and more of myself,
I discovered my strength, my gifts, my weakness, what is hidden deep inside me.
I learned how to use my strength, my gifts, and how to overcome my weakness.
Most important; I feel closer to Jesus.

I feel blessed to be here in Sabah, to have family and friend here.
I'm happy because I have the oportunity to get to know my coursemate and friends.
I have a community and brother sister that always there for me when I need them.
Life fire and Life Line that draw me closer to God.
My brother and sister in christ that journey with me when I need them most,
I can only say thank you, and thank you for your blessing and prayer.

It comes to an end for study I guess....
I need to get ready in looking for a job,
time may change, stages of life change.
But one thing for sure, the relationship and faith I built wouldn't.
Through Him, I can do it!

hardship

I’ve been go through some difficulties few weeks ago.
My dad was not feeling well days before I went back.
That Saturday night, was the first day of St Anthony feast day and we went to church.

Before leaving the house, my dad ask me to watch over him
cause he scare if he is not feeling well or faint.
I started to feel regret, I wander if we should go church or not.
At the end, we went to church.

The service took almost 2 hours,
my dad was not feeling well. When he stand up, he almost faint.
Thank God! My godfather is there, and he manage to catch my father before he fall down.
After a while, the priest came and ask for his condition.

We decided to send him to hospital for check up.
On the way to hospital, I started to cried. I was scared and shocked.
It is so sudden, I don’t know what I should do, all I can is just pray and ask friend to pray for me. Everything went well, it turn out that doctor said it was just fever and the blood pressure drop.
I thank God, and I thank the community I have.
To support me when I need them, to pray for me when I need them so much.
It really mean a lot to me. And I praise God for his kindness and mercy.
I started to realise that my dad is getting older,

and me as his daughter need to take care of him.
Being in 60’s is not old, but how long can human live?
We need to appreciate each day that we have with love one.
For me what most important is being with daddy.

I have to wait the next morning to go home.
My heart resist, I wanted to go home today.
IT MUST BE TODAY!!
So I follow my friend back to her hometown,
along the way i pray and ask God to hep me.
I ask that He provide.
Finally praise God that I did it!!
I'm back to home!
It tooks me almost 2 hour extra from the normal route,
but I don't care! I'm just glad; glad that I'm home!
and I really thank hsin for picking me,
hearing from her, knowing that a person that I love and trust
is there for me makes my day Great!

Viva Voce

Thank God I have passed my viva voce!

Its no really as smooth as I though it will be.
It started with a LATE.

I woke up late and things starting to disorganize.
I’m supposed to collect friends’ slide that morning, but I’m late.
Woke up 10 minutes before 8 in the morning make me scarred and worry.

I thought I will not make it on time,

but praise God! Viva start at 8:30am.

So I still have some times to set up the projector and the laptop.

Great!
Now is my turn to Present,

I feel nervous like usual when I present.
When I finish, the first things to check is my map.

Well I know my cross section it’s a bit weird, but that is what i get.

Now these are the conversation took place in the Room,

therere a lot of Geological term so please Google it

if you didn't understand.

Exm 1: Your cross section seem a bit weird......
Me: Ya.... but that is what I get, according to my literature review
Exm 1: alright then, i understand...

seem you referring previous researchers..so should be okay....

Well it does match..ok... well i think you can.....

(He suggest some idea how to modify it)
Me : ok. Thank you

Then something great happen!

Exm 1: Sharon, actually there is nothing wrong with your research,

the test is okay, but then my problem is after I finish

checking your thesis and I still don’t know

what you are doing? Why you are doing this research?

What is the purpose? Why you sampling like this?

Why only this sample?.............??????
I was shock with the questions, My mind was thinking

(What!!!! You mean my research is useless? You don’t get it???)

I tried to explain my objective again........
Me : To identify the potential pollution......bla..bla..bla
Exm 1: ya, but why you select this type of rock only?
Me : Well, it’s Igneous rocks, so I took Igneous as sample;

according to my thesis title (hmm, is it not clear???)
Exm 1: ya..but you know Pinousok gravel?

It’s rock debris, not only one type of rocks,

so what you doing now does it represent you study area?
Me : (Well, of course i know! I’ve been doing it for 1 year....)

ya... not represent whole but a bit...
Exm 1: then why you choose igneous rock only?
Ok........ I have answers in my mind.
Emotion answer = “THE WORD IGNEOUS WAS IN MY TITLE, SO I CHOOSE iT!!

To minimize my scoop of study! second, My supervisor give the title,

so i did the thesis!
(However i didn’t, Its wrong to say my supervisor give

and i just do it,The true is i know why I did it also)

Professional answer = because Igneous after undergo weathering

will yield higher heavy metals.

Therefore it’s more important to focus on igneous rocks.

Well, it’s sad that i didn’t give that “professional answer”

I was shock until i can’t explain it....
Somehow my supervisor help “ actually there is a student do that similar title,

so now what she is doing is continuous research focus on.......”
Another lecture support “ya...its undergrad so it’s okay...

we don’t expect you do like postgraduate students”

They tried to calm me down after seeing me nervous, well it works.

Now the 2nd examiner
Exm 2: What is the age of Crocker Formation?
Owh owh...... I DON’T REMEMBER!!!
Ok...I’ll try to check the slide......
Exm 2: You still want to check slide?
Well what i can do is just smile and answer after i saw it on slide

Well, there are some typing error in the map.
Now, a very UNEXPECTED question.
Exm 2: What is my name?
Me: Ha? A... Encik xxxxxx xxxxx xxxxx
Exm 2: ok, try u spell
Me: (What?? Ok, just spell la) XXXXXXXX
Exm 2: hmm no it’s wrong..
Me :er..... (Ok, it very very embarrassing,

I have to spell and all the lecture laugh...)

Exm 2: Your reference, what is DBKL?

lecture A: "Owh dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur?"

Me: er...o actually is typing error, shoud be Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP, KL).

Lexture S:"Well I think She must be doing her typing around 3 in the morning, that's why she is blur and type wrongly" and all lecture laugh.....

Hmm, It is a memorable Viva Voce after all!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UFrdJ2V3r7Y
We celebrated Life fire anniversary today.
it's the Fifth anniversary.
I guess its the first time we celebrated.
what really touch me is the skit by Life Liners.
It is Great!

Somehow, I realize that my service has come to an end in this
ministry. I need to say Good Bye.
My speech is simple " Enjoy the celebration"
I wanted to said, it has come to an end for me in this ministry,
how this ministry help me, how it mean a lot to me.....
But i swallow it. It's not "good bye" celebration,
its a joy celebration!

Living the new leaders behind, and move forward
is a must. Like i always said ministry is just a place
to equip you. We have long journey to go....
all of us are call for different calling.
What I can do is continue to pray for them.

disturbed

I sleep late in the early morning.

My sleep is disturbed,

I admit that I'm afraid.

But I know all will be ok.

Angel of God's light,

whom God sends as a companion for me on earth,

protect me from the snares of the devil,

and help me to walk always as a child of God, my Creator. Angel of God's truth,

whose perfect knowledge serves what is true,

protect me from deceits and temptations.

Help me to know the truth,

and always to live the truth. Angel of God's love,

who praises Jesus Christ,

the only Son of God,

who sacrificed His life for love of us,

sustain me as I learn the ways of Divine love,

of sacrificial generosity, of meekness and lowliness of heart. Thank You, my heavenly friend,

for your watchfull care.

At the moment of my death,

bring me to heaven,

where the one true God,

Who is light, Truth and Love,

lives and reigns forever and ever. Amen.

hope; new

back from Papar,
A lot of reflection when i journey with this young leaders.
They remind me of my passion, and reasons.
it has been a great week.
I saw hope and New.
May God continue to guide us.

The Lord is compassion and love

Today’s responsorial Psalm is very meaningful,
and relate to what i have gone through.

My souls give thanks to the Lord,
All my being, bless His holy name.
My soul, give thanks to the Lord
And never forget all His blessing.

It is He who forgives all your guilt,
Who heals everyone of your ills,
Who redeems your life from the grave,
Who crowns you with love and compassion.

The lord is compassion and love,
Slow to anger and rich in mercy,
He does not treat us according to our sins
Nor repay us according to our faults.

As far as the east is from the west
So far does He remove our sins.
As a father has compassion on His sons,
The Lord has pity on those who fear Him.

-Psalm 102:1-4. 8. 10. 12-13

when i'm sick

I started to feel not well since yesterday...
so after lab, i went back.
I sleep without dinner, I sleep for more than 12 hours...
Well the fever does go down,
but my throat still feel painful.
This morning when i wake up,
searching for food, I'm very hungry..
and the only thing i found is Maggie.
So i just eat it, for the first time
i hate the taste....

Revelation, Season

As I’m writing this blog, I realize that today God had given me a miracle today.

If Bea is reading; I guess she’ll said “one word”

Well Bea, there is two words:"Revelation; Season"

I talk to one of the members from the Australian group that attend Life Nite just now after she and Fenny pray over me. (Well when I step out, I don’t know what I want to pray for)

She told me that God will reveal when He wants to, and He will decide when I’ll know what my gifts are according to season.

I reflect; and I realize that God had revealed to me an important event/decision according to this season.
